NEBRASKA Sandhill Crane Migration
23 images Created 25 Aug 2013
The astounding migration of sandhill cranes is not just for bird nerds. Hundreds of thousands of these giant cranes darken the daytime sky in the vacinity of central Nebraska during late winter/early spring. This has been happening for millions of years! This was a blast of a photo shoot, with interesting locals, good beer (Hamm's!) and challenging (COLD) conditions. *50% of the profit from all images will be donated to the National Audobon Society Rowe Sanctuary. The sanctuary is dedicated to the conservation of sandhill cranes, whooping cranes and other migratory birds, and their habitat along the Platte River in south central Nebraska.
